Subject: When on the pill...

There are no periods. But some kinds cause breakthough bleeding. It is this bleeding that people think of as periods and for most it is lighter.

I have never used the pill but have friends who have. The periods should start up again at about a month after stopping, but it could take several more months. Really though, it depends on why she was taking them to begin with. If it was for irregular periods, lack of periods, heavy periods, etc. If she wasn't having periods before, then she might not now.
