After the release of the Desert Rose Band’s fourth album, TRUE LOVE, the band seem to splinter and eventually, a few members left for other things, including the great John Jorgenson, who had played Lead Guitar for the band. (Jorgenson plays lead guitar on “Life Goes On” and “That’s Not The Way”, indicating perhaps he left during sessions for this album, or maybe because these tracks had been recorded at an earlier time, and then finished up for this album). Either way, LIFE GOES ON was planned for a US release, but due to a lot of still unexplained reasons, was kept in the can. Eventually, CURB in Germany was able to get the album out, but again, how it happened is still a mystery. Perhaps someone out there, can shed some light??

This CD sticks very closely to the previous format and style of the earlier DRB albums, with Chris writing nearly all of the songs, and singing lead, with Herb Pedersen’s vocal backing him up. Some classic stuff here, and Chris Hillman was also able to recruit Tom Brumley (of Buck Owens and the Buckeroo’s Fame --an “original” Buckaroo!!) to play very cool Steel Guitar on this record and join this short lived lineup of the band. His Pedal Steel is one of the highlights of this record, and I believe Tom has since passed away--although, I’m not 100 percent sure.

Shortly after the CD was finished, Chris Hillman decided it was pretty much over, and broke up the band. This line-up, as far as I know, never toured together, although Bill Bryson had been a touring member of the band for a while. It is said, that Hillman and Jorgenson to this day, have a strained relationship, which goes back to their days together in this band. Who knows?

Chris, along with Herb Pedersen, have continued to record together, and have also done a couple CDs with the Rice Brothers as well. I may post a couple of these other CDs..I think I have a one or two of them in my collection. Let me know if anyone’s interested.

A Note about the Artwork--The artwork might not print very clearly. Sorry. My scanner is shit. But if you click on the JPEGs..you can at least see the FULL liner notes.
