The Rolling Stones - "The Killer Festival "Altamont 1969
Live at the Altamont Speedway, San Francisco, California, December 6, 1969. Meridith Hunter was stabbed to death in front of the stage during "Under My Thumb" not during "Sympathy for the Devil" as is popularly believed. This recording captures the mayhem during the concert. Audience source.
"When idealism and anarchy rode together on the same horse and no one was quite sure which was holding the reins."
Or more prosaically,
"A young black man murdered in the midst of a white crowd by white thugs as white men played their version of black music."

06.29. Shows the confusion at the show. The stage was only a foot high!
A black dude in lime green jacket & black shirt a minute or so in, it's not clear if he's the victim or not. Check out the guy on MJ's right 03.30 in, he's so spaced out, soon gets bundled off by Hell's Angels.
Ironically, Let it Bleed had just been released.
Includes their first performance of Brown Sugar.
"Flower Power was a load of old crap really, wasn't it?" MJ to KR on plane home.
“Rape, murder, it’s just a shot away.” Gimme Shelter

Cheers.
Heard on the recording:
"Let me outta here." "There's nowhere to go, man."
Seems indicative of the human condition.
