The U.S.S. Freedom LCS-1 will be commissioned on Saturday November 8th.
The Freedom is a Litoral Combat Ship, a totally new type of ship. She is designed to operate near coastlines in shallowwer water than most other ships. She is capable of several different missions, and is rated at over 40 knots.
